Danny Philippou (birthname: Daniel Philippou) made his first impact as co-creator (with twin brother Michael Philippou) of the violent, comedic YouTube channel RackaRacka, created in 2013 and with 54 episodes downloaded until 2016.
Philippou made his feature debut as co-director (with brother Michael) and co-writer (with Bill Hinzman) of the Australian-produced supernatural horror movie, Talk to Me (2022), based on a concept by Daley Pearson and co-starring Sophie Wilde, Alexandra Jensen and Miranda Otto, and became distributor A24’s highest-grossing horror movie with a $92 million return on $4.5 million costs.
Philippou stayed in the horror lane with twin brother Michael as co-director and again as co-writer with Bill Hinzman of the Australian-backed Bring Her Back (2025), starring Sally Hawkins and Billy Barratt, with A24 (U.S.)/Stage 6 Films (Australia)/Sony Pictures Releasing International (international) as distributors. Philippou was again co-director with Michael and co-writer with Hinzman of the Australian-made sequel, Talk 2 Me (2025), produced by A24/Bankside Films/Causeway Films and released in the U.S. by A24.
Danny Philippou has also served as an editor on videos and shorts and has appeared as an actor in nearly a dozen short films as well as video and television mini-series, all since 2012.
Danny Philippou was born and raised in Adelaide, Australia by his parents, and grew up in the Adelaide suburb of Pooraka. Philippou has a twin brother, Michael, who is also his filmmaking partner.
